Our History

Argyle Professional Firefighters Local 5190 was formed in 2018, but the history of the fire service in our area goes back much further than that.

Here's a brief history of what led up to the creation of our organization:

1963

Argyle Volunteer Fire District established and consisted of an all-volunteer department.

2005

The first 3 full-time fire fighters/EMT-paramedics were hired and supplemented with volunteer and part-time personnel.

2009

The first full-time engine and medic company were established and supplemented with volunteer and part-time personnel.

2022

Three full-time engine companies with one supplemented with part-time personnel, along with two full-time medic companies. Thirty-six full-time fire fighters among three fire stations.

1963

Argyle Volunteer Fire District established and consisted of an all-volunteer department.

2001

Established the ambulance service and was staffed with part-time fire fighters/EMT-paramedics.

2005

The first 3 full-time fire fighters/EMT-paramedics were hired and supplemented with volunteer and part-time personnel.

2006

Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1 was established by the citizens of the district following a vote.

2009

The first full-time engine and medic company were established and supplemented with volunteer and part-time personnel.

2018

IAFF Local 5190 Argyle Professional Firefighters was chartered with 29 members and became members under the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters.

2022

Three full-time engine companies with one supplemented with part-time personnel, along with two full-time medic companies. Thirty-six full-time fire fighters among three fire stations.
